Cicadas

This year has been the noisiest I can remember for a long time.

There are probably thousands in my garden, and their exoskeletons remain on fences, trees and in this case, a rake.They've been sucking on tree roots for years, not sure how long, but all burst through the soil at the same time.
The deafening screech has been going on for about four days, but all quiet today.
I don't mind it at all, but a shopkeeper in town told me one of his customers said she was selling up.
A bit extreme:)

Winds have eased today, but still no rain.
Deleting, cataloguing and backing up.  What fun!
