Iron Cove Bridges 2 and 3
Took this on my walk this morning.
The original Iron Cove Bridge was opened in 1882, and was constructed of wrought iron lattice girders.
It was replaced by Bridge 2 in 1955 and duplicate bridge 3, on the left, was opened in 2011.
There was much opposition to the new bridge. It was said that it would make little difference to traffic flow and that there would be a detrimental effect on local residents.
I must see if I can find out how things have panned out.
