Toronto Day 3

We only had one night camping, sadly, so on Sunday we had to pack up and head off to new things. First we made pancakes, with maple syrup, and then I ran around chasing the chipmunks for a little while. They're very tricky to photograph - easily frightened and very fast to dart away until a pile of leaves. Chipmunks and black squirrels were my new discoveries this time, much to Tierney's amusement. These guys were everywhere, chirruping out from the trees, and scuffling through the leaves.

Our next stop was Black Creek Pioneer Village, on the outskirts of Toronto. This is a recreated village, with buildings from the surrounding area set up as a village, with blacksmith, cabinet maker, seamstress, town hall, and all the rest. There were lots of people to talk to, all in costume and giving whatever skill they were demonstrating a good go (the cabinet maker admitted to us he hasn't a clue how to do wood work, but he is a history major). I've seen similar things in the UK, but it was quite different to see them in Canada, where the history is so different - more intentional and less organic, but still following the requirements of an early settlement.

I really enjoyed strolling through the village, although we didn't quite get to see everything. After that it was time to head back to Tierney's. We got there, cooked dinner, planned my Niagara Falls trip, and then it was bedtime.
