There has been a movement to encourage backyard chicken coops in certain jurisdictions. The City of Kamloops doesn't allow for it unless one has an acre or more. That eliminates most homeowners in the city from having their own brood. However, one doesn't have to go far outside the city to find to find a chicken coop complete with hens. I'm told these white ones are Sussex hens. They were quite interesting to watch and a challenge to photograph, especially for someone who is already challenged where hand/eye coordination is required!
