RM Hubbert

Cracking gig last night.

St Andrews in the square is an amazing venue, an old converted church still retaining many of it's features, and Hubby was in great form.

Introducing one song he said, "I'm not quite sure what this song is about, it's inspired by The Muppets but also suicide, so really it's about Kermitting suicide"

His review of Nicola Roberts album Cinderella's Eyes and in particular one song from the album, about a girl falling for a guy and all her friends telling her that he is a dick and not to go with him, but she uttering the immortal words "I can change him" and how it inspired him to write a song from the point of view of the girls ex boyfriend and that the song he was going to play was in fact about depression.

He brought on Alisdair Roberts, Emma Pollock and Aiden Moffat for cameo appearances to sing songs from his second album Thirteen Lost & Found.

He played a touching version of For Joe, speaking with great love of his former father in law and even telling his ex mother in law he loved her as she was sat in the crowd.

He chatted very candidly in between songs, always with humour reminiscing about a mince curry, preceded with a deep philosophical chat about those moments where all the stars align to create that one perfect moment.

Last night all the stars aligned and it was an honour to be part of that moment.
