On the ground 3

Although this might look like a small palm tree in a jungle (?!) it is a rather poor specimen of Eucomis, or Pineapple Flower, a summer and autumn flowering bulb.
A wet, misty and grey day to end September, but mild. An appointment in town took longer than planned for, so home for a soup lunch, and rushed to get the cake iced and tea cups ready for our Bookclub afternoon.
We had read "A Daughter's Tale" by Mary Soames, youngest daughter of Sir Winston Churchill, which was especially interesting for me as we visited their family home at Chartwell in Kent only last week!
Next book is by Jo Jo Moyes "The Girl You Left Behind". We were all very impressed by her earlier book "Me Before You" which we read last year.
