Bowl of Tears
A friend contacted me offline. She loved the bowl I posted last week…..nearly as much as the sentiment…!! So today I made her one…. bigger than last weeks and stronger…in many ways…. The rim holds 884 cross pein pin hammer blows … one for each week over seventeen years she had with her partner…and later her husband… The outside contains 6188 blows…. figure that out yourselves… The brown patina was made up of ferric nitrate, distilled water and sulfurated potash… The distilled water may have been wasted because….. I added a phial of teardrops my friend posted and a petal from a blue flower that bloomed on the day of his funeral….. I burned in the patina with a blowtorch and then used a different green patina on the inside…. I waxed and polished it inside and out twice to protect it. Into the third layer of wax I added pure gold dust, symbol for the pure love they had for on another…and polished for a long time……
Hopefully she will love and treasure it
Hopefully she will not put it in the dishwasher.
Either way I did my best…. I can do no more…..
And if you look closely at the photo there is a gold face looking at you....purely accidental.......just saying…
