Friday Beverage #8

Another in my what is now an occasional series of Friday Beverages. Having said the other day that real ale season is upon us I find myself partaking of a refreshing, chilled lager this evening. I’m quite enjoying this Indian Summer, although it is a bit of a pain having to get my Summer clothes out again having packed them all away in a rather organised manner during the recent cool spell.

Is it just me or are those automated phone answering systems really annoying? At work today I called the Royal Brompton Hospital and got the robotic female voice. After waiting patiently while she went through various options I was asked to state the name of the consultant or department I was after. So, in my best Home Counties phone voice, I said, “Professor Athol Wells”, to which she replied, “Putting you through to Mr David Hansell”.... Happens every time. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
