A Knitted Church!!!.....
............yes, really! - Decided I would have a short drive to Heckington - (about 6 miles away) - and have a look at the Church there. Took some pix of the exterior but then noticed a board outside the door saying there were Knitted Churches on display. Well, I had to see that!! This is one of the two on show - I think this one is of Sleaford Church. It was very difficult to capture as it sat on a bright orange (!) cloth and most of the pictures caught the jumble of books behind it. No real criticism but I think it could have been displayed much better - but the organisers were definitely not Blippers! Anyway this is what it's all about:-
Woolly Spires’ is a prestigious countywide community art outreach project for The Collection in Lincoln that is managed by artsNK.
The project, piloted by the Sleaford knitters had its first public appearance of the 3D woolly version of St Denys Church, Sleaford at the Bathing Beauties Festival. The beautiful artwork attracted crowds of curious festival visitors and representatives of the knitting group were to hand to answer a multitude of questions and receive praise for their exquisite detailed work.
Eventually, ‘Woolly Spires’ will become a unique collection of knitted versions of Lincolnshire’s magnificent churches.
I cropped it a lot and am showing it in Sepia to avoid the startling orange cloth on which it is standing - a real distraction in my opinion! At least it's something different for you to look at!
Weather is not bad - after a dull start, it is now sunny and reasonably warm at 61 Deg.F.
Have a nice day!
