Desert Squirrel

On top of the world

I did have an image from this morning that turned out OK. It was an old akeake tree growing near here. The foliage and form is attractive, but looking more closely, it has been butchered in the past, and has ugly stumps in its centre. These don't show in colour, but when I made an infrared version in Lightroom which revealed the branching nicely, these stumps showed up well, too!

Then this afternoon I drove up the hill to walk the track that we usually walk from our house. It was windy, but I love the clear air and the big sky, which I would gladly swap for the shelter down here at our temporary location. This view is from the top of the Britten Reserve. Gorse is flowering, and I have to admit it contrasts attractively with the blue sea and sky, even though it is only there because the park staff missed it on their weed spraying mission.
