Scarecrow

The rice is getting bigger and bigger everyday. Soon it will be time to harvest. Until then these friendly scarecrows are used to keep the (huge) crows away. Not sure how well they work, but they've also become somewhat of a rural Japan art installation. Towns even have contests for the best or most original scarecrows. I've seen everything from Japanese pop stars to President Obama. The ones featured here are original designs but fun nonetheless. There were about ten in a line along the country road.
