Sharp Edge
Up reasonably early as the huge lamb dinner put a dent on the beer capacity. After clearing up we went up to Seathwaite but the weather was still crapped out… time for a plan B, something a bit wee'er but with an entertainment quotient…Blencathra!!
So of wee went and the weather was looking promising up this end. After a quick hike we were up at the tarn with Sharp Edge in front of us. Took a few photos and had a chat with a group who left in front of us. We wandered up and started what really is a low grade but quite entertaining scramble. Was enjoying the rock immensely when we came across the locale MRT doing some practice and overtook the group we'd met previously. We weren't racing across, it was all very jolly fun when we became aware that the group behind us were have a few problems over a step. I skittered back and managed to talk a woman over helping her with her hand a foot placements, as I went off to rejoin Sharon she asked if I would help her husband as he was having a bit of bother. No probs. Turned out he was having a right bad time with the exposure and the MRT had cottoned onto this. The put him on a short rope and Sharon and I helped the rest across. The MRT got him to safer ground and we helped them onto the summit ridge. He was mighty relieved to be up there and most appreciative of Sharon's whiskey!!
It wasn't too long a walk up there so we had some scoff and wandered East over the dfells and back down to Scales were we had to pass through a beer garden, would have been rude not to have had a pint…. a nice summer ale called….. Sharp Edge.
Another cracking weekend with the club. I quite like the English Ponds.
