Got ourselves together and formulated a plan to park up at Seathwaite and go and get us a pike. On driving down there it was absolutely rammed., seems that there was Marie Curie event going on up Scafell Pike. Quick look at the map and a plan was hatched to get up to Great Gable.
Excellent paths up the Lakes and we ended up on Green Gable for lunch before a wander and wee scramble onto Great Gable. Not a view was to be had anywhere, totally greyed out. Damn shame that as there is some fine views o be had from there. So we head down to Sty Tarn and then on back to the car. Just as we were going down we ended up just getting a wee tantalising view of something, just the briefest… that was it…
As it was just before 5 we weren't in the mood to get back to the barn we were staying in so we headed off to the pub and had a quite excellent pint of Corby Blonde. Then off to Troutdale for a wee wander. We had a nice wander and I was able to reminisce about a Scout camp there in 1976… bloody hell…
Back to the barn, quick shower and then a rather fine lamb dinner and lashings of real ale. Quite an excellent day all round, except for the bloody views……
