Botswana #1

We started our long road journey from Windhoek in Namibia early this morning, and arrived in Ghanzi, Botswana in the late afternoon. We set up our tents and then went for a guided bush walk with some people from the San tribe. Traditionally they are a nomadic people, but that is rare in modern times. The people try to keep their ancient skills alive and were keen to demonstrate them to us. They showed us how to dig for different types of roots that cured all sorts of ailments such as headache, back ache, stomach ache and other bodily functions. They explained what they were doing in their own language, much to our bemusement, but with a lot of miming and gesticulating we did manage to understand what was being said!
This lady is showing us her prized possession, an ostrich egg which makes for a very efficient water carrier.
