Western Rosella
We set off on the road early this morning, we wanted to see as much as we could today as this is our last day in the South West, tomorrow we make our way home.
Our first stop was Manjimup, a logging town in the South West.
We drove on and made it for lunch in Walpole the home of the valley of the giants where there is an old growth forrest of Karri and Marri and the biggest giant of all trees here in S.W the Tingle trees, Walpole has a tree top bridge to view the forrest from the top of the canopies.
It rained on and off the whole journey.
We dropped into Pemberton On the way back Nannup to look at the old Gloucester tree a 56m tall Karri tree which was used as a watch tower for any bush fire once upon a time. Now anyone can climb it, Glyn has climbed it but not today it was too wet, but someone was up there! Crazy!
I spotted this Western Rosella close by eating the seeds from a banksia bush they fly in flocks in Winter, the rest of the time they fly in pairs, this one had a female nearby, I couldn't get the two together in one shot, its the smallest of all rosellas in the South West, is the least destructive, and not at all timid, this is the first one we have ever seen, quite special! We was in the right place at the right time!
