Sunday - A day of rest

Quite a comfy bed – but still up by 7.45am …………… probably the wind and rain.

Yes – the Outer Hebrides get wind and rain (who would have thought…..)

Mid morning, after a bit of breakfast and looking at some pictures we had taken yesterday we jumped in the car to go and take some pictures of waves – and they were quite spectacular waves (and some pretty spectacular squalls too it has to be said).

With it being a Sunday on the outer Isles, there was not a lot of life and even fewer places open for business – but we did find the most amazing wee café/eating establishment (The Temple Café in Northton) where we had the most delicious chocolate cake ever. Well, I did …. The girls shared a raspberry and white chocolate scone with jam and cream.
After that is was off on a wee tour and a visit to a rather nice little (empty) church – St Clements in Rodel, right at the southern tip of Harris. It has quite an interesting history
We also found The Butty Bus at Leverburgh ............. but it wasn't open unfortunately.

We also passed a sign that rather tickled me.

Then it was more wave shots.

Unfortunately for me – and much to the girls’ amusement – I had a slight mishap and was unable to beat the speed of a super large wave whilst running (backwards) up a gully between the rocks. It ended with me tripping over a badly placed rock and the wave taking the path of least resistance ……. Right up my trouser legs. Luckily I was able to keep my camera and spare lens out of the water.

‘Quiet time’ was partaken of in the afternoon and another outing was then made to get a sunset over the by now, even bigger waves.

Guess who went base over apex again on the rocks……………

Yep – you guessed it – me!
But I didn’t get wet or do any damage other than leaving some skin from a hand on a rock.
After all that ……….. the nicely developing colour disappeared behind a bank of clouds and wasn’t for coming out to play again.
Ahh well – I got a couple I quite like and there are still another few days.
