Shooting the Shooters at Sunrise

I went out this morning to photograph the sunrise, not realizing it was opening day of duck hunting season. These guys in the boat have just put out the duck decoys behind them and are heading for their hiding place.

I understand the necessity of hunting but have never been a fan. This morning, however, I began to understand the draw, at least on a day like this. I could hear shooting going on all around me and I can image the hunters thinking, "Oh no, the birds are everywhere but here!". Actually there was quite a bit of shooting going on near me as well, but thankfully, I never did see a bird fall.

Other than hearing the duck call (think Duck Dynasty) and the guns blasting, it was quite a lovely morning and we were all able to practice our own type of shooting.
