Made from strong stuff

We bought this Dahlia last year and after thinking we had lost it to the severe winter we were pleased to see it spring into life. However, as we watched it grow and saw the large flower bud appear we were disappointed to come out one morning and see that the stalk had been munched straight through! Residing to the fact that we were not going to enjoy any flowers this year we were even more surprised to discover a new flower head emerge from nowhere. This little Dahlia is certainly made from strong stuff.
