Award

My book, The Blackhouse, tonight won the Barry Award for the mystery novel of the year. The award was announced at the opening ceremony of Bouchercon, the biggest annual crime-writing convention in the United States, held this year at Albany, the state capital of New York, in an impressive theatre called The Egg..

This is the very handsome plaque that I received. It is the 7th award won by books in the Lewis Trilogy.

You can watch (or, rather, hear - I'm a bit of a burned out blob) my acceptance speech here.

My American publisher took us out for a meal afterwards and cracked open a fine bottle of Champagne. (I also consumed some of my favourite whisky!) Tomorrow (my head allowing) I have a signing in the book room - which is actually a vast space filled with books by booksellers from around the US to feed the passion of the 1300 crime-loving delegates. And on Saturday I am participating on a panel.
