Evening with the ducks and a bit of a loon...

Glistens in large.

I stopped off at a lake on my way home from an appointment; the sunshine had finally decided to peak out and the evening atmosphere was very pleasant. I didn't see many waterfowl when I first arrived, but patients paid off and I had my choice of swans, geese and a few ducks posing for me. It was a lovely evening and I had the place to myself for a while. Though, towards the end of my stay, a lady joined me on the short dock/platform I was on... I smiled and said hello. She didn't reply, but pulled out a loaf of bread and started yelling, "Black Foot, come here Black Foot" as though she were calling a dog (loudly). Well, this got the attention of these ducks and a lone goose. I backed up to fit them into my frame, as I had a long lens on and boy did I get strange/angry looks from the yeller. She didn't want me around her feeding frenzy and was getting more and more agitated that "Black Foot" (I think it's a swan she named) didn't come when called. I thought about pointing out the sign that says Please don't feed the waterfowl. I wanted to say, "Did you know that bread isn't good for ducks etc...?" But after one more nasty look from her, I decided not to push my luck.

The last image of the day, as I retreated to safety, was my favorite and I posted its buddy on flickr. I'm not sure what kind of ducks they are, there was one more in their group that looked a bit like a female mallard though they were all smaller than a mallard would be. I would maybe guess that this is a young male mallard, however the one on flickr wouldn't be with that chest patch... I'm out of guesses. Anyone?
