Carved by History
Our first full day at Annecy was spent in Lea Gorges du Fier - an incredible limestone gorge, with a footpath attached into the limestone cliffs themselves. It wasn't busy thankfully, but was no less astonishing an experience for it. One of the highlights was these 'faces', carved out by water over tens of thousands of years.
We were very lucky with the weather - our first night was marked by severe rain, but our tent held its own and it didn't interfere with our enjoyment of our holiday one bit! The only surprising thing has been just how quiet Annecy has been, but it's very much a summer and winter sports town, so perhaps not that surprising.
