Harvest Moon
The custom of moon viewing held today is called tsukimi and widely celebrated in Japan. For the Tsukimi festival, the Japanese celebrate by decorating their homes with Japanese pampas grass (susuki). A popular dish for this festive occasion is Tsukimi dango, (rice dumplings) signifying the moon’s beauty. We had lots at work today :)
I joined the moon viewers on the high street mainly in an effort to see the rabbit. In the west, when we look up in the night sky and the moon shines bright, we see The Man in the Moon, but here in Japan people see a cavorting rabbit! Not sure I can see it myself but I like the story ;)
Like the moon, come out
from behind the clouds!
Shine.
