Raising the steaks
Most people will be familiar with the almost mythical tales about the lush life that results in tender, buttery rich Kobe beef. There is a belief that it comes from specially pampered Wagyu breed cows, massaged by beautiful geisha girls who give them beer and sake to relax them. The reality is somewhat different with serious questions being asked about how ethically these cows are farmed. It makes choosing a restaurant something of an ethical minefield.
Whilst prices vary wildly I've yet to discover Kobe beef at this low price... I'm guessing the maitre d' simply forgot to change the board. There could be a lot of unhappy people judging from the queue leading into this particular eatery!
Ethics is nothing else than reverence for life.
