St. Andrew's Cathedral
Oooh, lots of fun and excitement today for a change. Started with an earlier(ish) start with a bus trip to the other side of town to meet up with friends (Karen, Ann & Baxter) and then Karen drove us north into the wild countryside of Fife! Actually we were headed to the Eden Brewery for a tour but with some time to kill we first visited St. Andrews, after a refreshing pint in the centre of town we wandered down to the cathedral and the coast, it was a lovely sunny day if a little fresh. It would have been nice to explore the town a little longer (I haven't been to St. Andrews since I was very small) but we had to head to the brewery.
The Brewery tour was really good, we got told about the sites history, there used to be a distillery there and then a brewery and paper-mill. Eden Brewery started operating from the site about a year ago, I haven't come across Eden's beer in many Edinburgh pubs but they do sell their bottled beers at Stockbridge Market so I'm fairly familiar with their beers. It was good to see where the beers were made and have a wee tasting session of course :-) I also bought a couple bottles and a couple Eden branded glasses. You can find pictures from the tour here.
After the tour we drove around the corner to a local pub (The Guardbridge Inn) for a bite to eat and some Eden beer, I was a little disappointed they did not have any of Eden's beers on tap but we managed to get a couple bottles. After eating and enjoying a leisurely drink Karen drove us back to Edinburgh...
Great day all around :-)
