...by flood waters

which continue day-after-day

pounding our state - falling from the sky - onto heavily soaked lands - into drenched and filled culverts - washing away everything in its path - destroying the grasses - pushing aside flowers - uprooting trees and bushes - turning soil into muddy mogs - demolishing people's homes - wiping away dreams in an instant - taking lives, yes human lives - we again are enduring much in my beloved homeland - it's difficult to describe - hard to comprehend - how the rain continues to come - yesterday, i got caught in a torrential downpour - wherein within several minutes, water was up to my ankles - i was astonished at the ferociousness of it all...

but we are tenacious - will rebound from this natural disaster and rise again stronger than ever - as we did with the summer fires - pulling together as a community - working as neighbors to still the raging waters - we will stand tall - under seige - as these resilient daisies are doing - not alone - but as a force - to be reckoned with - to face yet many more...
