lunch with the dragon...

...a red dragonfly

i believe it to be a red dragonfly - right? and it's definitely caught lunch in that little mouth - some kind of insect sacrifice... and it qualifies as my very own wow moment for the week... i mean - really? a dragonfly eating lunch?

here's what went down: i was moseying around my little lake - that ended up getting a tad flooded by our recent rains - so the wildlife was thrown just a bit... the ducks and geese were acting out of sorts - squirrels were very squirrely - the great blue was nowhere in sight... as i made my way around, i noticed quite a few damsels and dragons - thinking i might have some fortune with them, i stopped and began sweet talking... this one in particular responded - i was besotted with the red... couldn't believe how he flitted around me - landing on leaves - seeming to actually pose for me... it was quite an experience... suddenly he flew away and i thought that was that - i began to walk away - turned back... noticed he had landed in some weeds - but it looked like he had something... i got close - closer - closer still... he didn't seem to mind - so i snapped away even though i wasn't really certain what he had - i wasn't wearing my glasses so couldn't tell 'til i uploaded - and lookit it now, will you - boo! it was a bug of some kind... he'd gone and fetched lunch - brought it back for me to see, the show-off...

does it get any more wonderfully glorious than that - when a precious portion of nature - draws you in to their own little world for a moment in time... i never expected it - had no clue it was going to happen - but i was open to it... i believe that's what makes the difference - i am eager, willing and ready... at all times - whenever the opportunity might present itself - or the possibility will exist... are you? do you take the leap - do you walk along the edge... wanting or expecting something exciting with nature to happen in your world - open yourself to what kind of experience awaits you - that my friends will make for...
