Sky in the Sky...
The man from Sky came today and replaced my dead Sky box. No hassle, no mess just a simple (to him) twiddle of some dials, resetting of meters, a turn of this , a press of that and on came the TV.
Oh joy. No more watching repeats of the first Bergerac series - obviously originally filmed through the bottom of a jam jar to save money. No more turning to the Drama Channel to see they're running the same episode of the Bill again this afternoon. And probably will be tomorrow too.
The absence of Paul Hollywood has been a blessing and if I see another episode of the Jamie bloody Oliver 15 minute cooking for your village extravaganza I'll throw something at the set.
I couldn't bring myself to watch Freeview's episodes of 'The Best Multi-Purpose Tool in the World' God give me strength; or see some tat on on a tacky shopping channel advertised by a wide mouthed American female at the fantasmorgasmic half price with two spare sets thrown in when I know they're in the local pound store - for 50p!
It's not all good news though. I've lost my 30 episodes of Michael Portillo's Railways of Britain. All my Taggarts, Father Ted, Hamish MacBeth, Not Going Out and Grand Designs have gone forever. I'll not see Rick Stein in India until they repeat them again or Ching He-Huang's delightfully simple Chinese cooking programmes.
At least I've still got my boxed sets of Lovejoy, Oz Clarke, and Pie in the Sky...
Which is where we came in I think.
PS The pic is a Sky box that the Sky box came in.
