At Fownhope: Bridget Drakeford porcelain...

The warm autumnal light illuminated the pots and paintings in Bridget Drakeford's studio. It's a celebration of talent. A delight. Bridget's gallery is a testament to her eye for detail.

Set in the grounds of her farm, visitors meander through a windy path of grasses and beautiful steel and blue glass sculptures reaching to sky. A yurt sits in the corner of the meadow. White cabbage fly butterflies flutter about the painted door. Inside a circle of canvasses and a warming wood stove welcomes pulls in passing feet.

A further meander leads to Bridget's studio. An eloquent mixture of work awaits. Bridget's arty friends provide a well balanced room. Bridget's porcelain stands proud on white plinths. Simplicity.

Bridget has perfected a lifetime of skill, influenced by Lucie Rie and Geoffrey Whiting. It's her eye for detail and the smooth oriental lines that won her the Mashiko Ceramics Competition in Japan in 2000. Since then, Bridget has still grown, providing her ever growing market of collectors with something new and inspired. Latterly silver smithed and wooden touches...... Like nature, ever changing and beautifully simple.....x
