Knockan Crag

This is a very important geological site with regard to how the areas landscape was formed. This "wall" shows the different layers of rocks. The top layer is older than those underneath all down the The Moine Thrust.

It was a damp morning, so we decided to join a short guided walk with a local geologist who explained what had happened here and how it was discovered before the geological theory had been developed.

We'd been here on our first visit and the views were stunning then - today nothing!!

It brightened up a tiny bit during the afternoon, so we went for a short walk around Lael Forest. It was mushroom and toadstool heaven and our second sighting of a red squirrel this week.
