What a view!
It's worth the 7-8 hour drive just for this. This is the view of Ullapool seafront, from our cottage window, in Northwest Scotland and we'll have this view for the next week.
The drive here is pretty easy - M6 north from Newcastle-under-Lyme, turn right past Glasgow towards Stirling. Over towards Perth and past Pitlochry. Late lunch stop in Aviemore, then up past Inverness and over the Kessock Bridge. By that point you're only an hour away from Ullapool.
We fell in love with the place 6 years ago and have been coming back every year since then. We love the peace and quiet, the scenery, the mountains, the beaches, the wildlife....not the weather sometimes!
Incidently, the hill you can see is Beinn Ghobhlach.
