Signs of the Season
At dusk this evening a row of sunflowers, still resplendent, caught my eye. The sunflowers have nearly gone to seed, a sign that summer is coming to an end and harvest is beginning.
Today I brought in a few potatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, carrots, kohlrabi, and corn from the garden in our tiny back yard. The fresh produce tastes so fine! The cherries are picked and canned for pies. The raspberries have all been eaten and the strawberries are producing for a second time this year. It is quite amazing what a small area of good soil can produce. (One disappointment is my apple tree - there is only one apple on it!)
