Bonniville Salt Flats
Well on our way by train again now as we make our way westbound to San Francisco 12 hous late the train turned up only to finally arrive in San Francisco 21 hours late due to 2 landslides a medical emergency police being called to the train twice and a speeding violation by the Pilot Driver not the Amtrak driver but the Union Pacific driver who knows the route the whole debacle cost a 4 hour delay as they were all arguing about who was to blame as no driver had been supplied with information regarding a speed restriction and both drivers were relieved of there duties on sight in a pokey we villiage near the Bonniville Salt Flats and this is where I took my blip for the day so missed our first night in our hotel but still had our sleeping car on the train so such as life anyhow movie for the day is "The Worlds Fastest Indian 2005" in which Anthony Hopkins played the part of New Zealander Burt Munroe who broke the speed record on the salt flats with an official speed record of 190.07mph although he did manage to go over 200mph on his Indian motor cycle but it was not official and did not count and his record still stands from those days at Bonniville back in 66/67.
