A perfect end to a perfect (birth)day.

Frida Kahlo's 'Self Portrait with Cropped Hair' is one of 144 works in MOMA's Van Gogh, Dali and Beyond exhibition at the WA Art Gallery and this evening G and I spent a few hours after hours at the AGWA Friday night session.
A guided tour of the show and then an hour perched on a stool with drawing pad and pen while a Dali fellow (complete with curl moustache and lobster telephone prop) modelled in a two/five/fifteen minute poses while we sketched him. With a glass of wine and platter of antipasto at hand, a fine old time.

During the guided tour this young woman spent a while with Frida and her self portrait and somehow the two seemed made for each other.

'I paint self portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best' Frida Kahlo.
