Rise Above (Coins & Cards...)
Friday the 13th, eh??
More midnight strolling around the streets of Salisbury but I wanted to be free from tripods and meticulously framed images.
Took the Sigma 20mm f1.8, this time on the DX D7000 (giving eqv of 30mm f1.8) and decided it was not fun enough, the rain was a pain, the wanted reflections from (closed) shops were disappointing and in the wrong place and almost no-one was around.
Just about to give up but then saw these poster-like stickers on a modern phone box. I really liked the stylised symbol of the woman, her handsomeness was like one of those Soviet propaganda characters, eschewing wholesomeness, so I focussed on her. The limited depth of field from the open aperture, quite close up threw the phone box increasingly out of focus, emphasising her. An orange streetlamp above added a golden colour cast and the reflected flash off the side of steel phone box.
I don't know who Rise Above are, or what they represent and somehow, I don't really want to.
Some Photoshop fiddling, inc sharpening, brightening, contrast and distortion correction.
Many have enjoyed my two circular fisheye blips of the past couple of days and I will do more with this lens in due course - I just don't want to post up rubbish images or exhaust potential subjects and I certainly don't want to bore you with them. Yesterday's is currently still very high up in the Spotlights, for which I thanks everyone who helped get it there.
Have a superstition free Friday the 13th everyone!!
