Another first

... but not place!
After yesterdays delicate sweet peas something a little more earthy!
The reason for our trip south this particular weekend was to run the Keswick 10k Trail Run. Apart from parkrun I haven't done much off-road running until this year and I was enjoying it so when Mr Rat suggested this run I was up for it.
The route starts on the old railway (where I started a bit too slowly and was getting held up - though it's satisfying overtaking people!), then up a steep bit of road (most of which I walked as planned, and as did many others), then onto the hill and mostly running and finally a long downhill - great.
I enjoyed my run and was pleased with my time and place and we were fortunate in being able to run between the showers. At the end were t-shirts and sticky toffee puddings (and we got a spot prize of another!)
There were also some 15k runs which didn't avoid the heavy showers and was over a muddier course, as seen by the legs. A drum group entertained us as we went back later to watch the longer race finish.
