Standoff

Heard a lot of wailing this morning, and had no idea what it was. It hadn’t woken Thom up so it mustn’t’ve been that loud, but I decided to go and investigate what was happening outside only to see these two cats having a right old wail at each other. Now the ginger tom on the left, well, we call him ‘Killer’…mainly because he has a habit of catching baby rabbits (and squirrels!) in front of the children, leading us to have to explain the circle of life, sometimes in gory detail! So, Killer. He also won this fight, strutting off safe in the knowledge that he was King of this area.

So, as ever, on a Tuesday we have the Cheese and Wine evening, so our entire day after Kids Club was preparation for the evening ahead again. Seriously, this evening takes up half our life! If only the event wasn’t so enjoyable for us when all of it is prepared and all that is left to do is drink wine and mingle with the guests! I do have to tell you about the rather interesting time at the supermarket, where the looks we got from some people were priceless…so I will begin at the beginning. After one of our travel cots had decided to give up the ghost, we needed to buy a new one. So as the most important thing on our list of the day (and the biggest!), we decided to get said travel cot first. It was also so very clearly labelled as a travel cot ( lit parapluie) it might as well have had a neon sign above it. So, no problem really with this so far bar the fact as a young couple, we therefore looked as if we were expecting a new arrival! This lovely scene was then negated by the thirty five bottles of wine that joined the travel cot in the trolley…and the looks on people’s faces really were hilarious, if mainly disapproving!

Really missing my parents now as haven’t been able to talk to them for a while due to them being abroad on holiday, plus the busyness of my job, plus the dodgy internet. The number of times I have now had to go to the site owner and tell him “Je suis désolée de vous déranger, mais l'Internet ne marche pas encore”…it is getting tired now for the both of us. The problem is that the internet mast is rather unstable, so anything will stop it working, from a light breeze to children playing on it. A rather stupid place to put an internet mast if you ask me.
