To Be Born Again
Went for a wee walk after work, hoping to catch a bit of sunset, as it was pretty spectacular round these parts last night, very bright and colourful as I watched it unfold through my window. Alas it wasn't happening tonight.
But still there was some nice light about and an nice crisp early autumn air, I do love this time of year. I had my headphones on as I wandered about and Van Morrisons Astral Weeks came on, always a great album to be playing when you're out for a walk, in fact I'd go so far to say, it's the best way to listen to it. The songs are reminiscent of wandering, be it the streets of Belfast, Paris, New York or Irvine, the characters within each story are the same ones you'll find wandering along your own town streets, they are timeless much like the songs, it's an album for all seasons, lyrically and musically, the songs drift through the hope of spring, the warmth of summer, the colours of autumn to the chill and starkness of winter.
I do love the it, although it's not my favourite Van album.
So I made my way to the top of Dreghorn to a small patch of waste ground with a view over the surrounding villages, hoping to catch the sun set at the right moment.
The picture is of the old Dreghorn Cemetery.
To think of all those people, what stories they lived, now gone to live among the viaducts of your dream
