What a surprise!

When out walking today on a country road not far from, home we came across this hedgehog. It is the first one I have ever seen live. I was really surprised as I thought they were only nocturnal - apparently not. I almost blipped the wrong end of it until someone pointed out its nose- difficult to see in the longish grass. I'm unsure whether it was someone's pet that had escaped or just out for a walk! We just left it alone.
