A rural life for me

Food for the birds

A neighbour of ours Mr F (over a mile away but still one of our closest houses) died well over a year ago. His house has sat empty and overgrown ever since. It makes me sad to see it fall into such a derelict state. It has a lovely wee garden and I know the last occupant really enjoyed being out in it.

On my way past after work today I spotted his apple tree laden with fruit. So stopped.... His garden is so overgrown yet his wee orchard has struggled up through it all. One wee tree had broken and lies flat but is still growing the gorgeous wee apples here. Another is laden with these lovely big beauts - coxes? There are a couple of plum trees but they have little fruit this year. It is so sad to think they are unloved at the moment. The house is a nice quirky one and would make someone a great home. Fingers crossed something is done with it soon.

So I am going to make a big apple pie with these and wish that Mr F was still about to enjoy it too.
