Day 5

Those are poppy seeds, in case you were wondering. They are quite popular in Hungarian desserts.

Tonight, the program treated us to a great dinner at Koleves (pronounced: koh-leh-vesh), in the Jewish quarter. The menu even specified with items were dairy-free!

My roommate and I ended up splitting the matza-cake pictured above (or what was left of it). The description noted that it was made with apples and poppy seeds, but neither of us were expecting the mountain of poppy seeds that came out on the plate. Unfortunately, it seems that poppy seeds are neither of our desserts of choice, for we could only handle about 1/3 of the seeds put on the plate.

Seems that poppy seeds will have to stick to bagels for me...
