Catch the wind
Our 1st / 11th anniversary. Last year we flew from Glasgow to Barra complete with vicious hangovers and insomnia on the day after our wedding. This year we were in fine fettle, re-visiting our place of marriage at some ridiculous time in the morning, then paid homage to our honeymoon by taking a (not quite so) wee plane to Tiree.
When we dropped out the bottom of the clouds and stepped off the plane, it was wet, windy and desolate. Having no trees, and being situated just about off the edge of the map, Tiree is windy, very windy. Whatever weather comes, comes straight from a hell of a long way across the Atlantic. We hunkered down in the hotel bar before taking the brave decision that we hadn't come all that way to watch swimming with the sound off, so hit the outside world.
It was just one of those moments. In a short while we were to get soaked and soaked again but for just then the sun came out for the first time. Then, there was the beach: Salum Bay.
