Washington State Ferry
We took a ferry just like this one to Lopez Island this morning. We are traveling with the friends we stayed with while in Yakima (apparently they are not yet sick of us). The drive up from Seattle was rainy and the forecast was for more rain, so we were quite surprised to see the sun pop out around 2:00 pm. It was nice enough to put the sea kayaks we had brought along in the water for an hour and a half paddle prior to dinner at The Bay Cafe in Lopez Village. We had a great table overlooking the water, but when the sun started to drop and this ferry (one of 22 that ply the Puget Sound on 10 different routes) came down the channel, I knew I had to put food on hold and get outside for a couple of photographs. I think the bird sitting on the dock was just as impressed as I was by this idyllic scene.
