The Travelling Doctor
Today I went to the last motorcycle road race on this year’s calendar. It was in the lanes of Killalane in North County Dublin. I was surprised when I got home to see I had taken 2108 files of the camera 5 of which are videos (because photos cannot come near to showing three and a half miles on windy lanes in two minutes ten seconds). I may look at a few of them but realistically I’ll only use about 50…. I got plenty of good shots of riders on one wheel as they hit a bump at 160mph and as they posed for shots on the victory laps by standing up on the bikes and by doing 80 degree wheelies for the crowd….of the travelling doctors who travel the courses at the same speeds as they must keep up with the racing bikes at all times…but who never can claim the glory…..but what made me most happy was to see no red flag on the track along with a white flag indicating ambulance on the track….all the riders lived to race another day…..that was, by far, best of all………..
