An apiarist in the making?

As rain is forecast for later today and lasting for a few days, checked out the progress on the winter feed. I have noticed over the last few months and again yesterday on our long car journey, that Angie is very interested in the bees and often asks questions. While I don't think she will want to become a full time beekeeper, she looks at them in a very different light (as indeed I have come to do since my mentor MrB introduced them to me in May). With all our other animals she simply hasn't the time but I can imagine, in other circumstances that she could take it up as a hobby.

So when she saw me about to open up the hives, she had a close look even putting her hand in the hive to remove the plastic covering on which several bees were sitting on. She seems to have no fear and indeed I was in T-shirt & shorts, a credit to MrB for raising such peaceful bees and preaching a slow, relaxed, peaceful style when handling them. There are differences between bees kept by different people.

Early post today in my break as we have lots to do so long the sun is shining and overnight visitors due during the week. Although animal lovers, there is a limit to the amount of fur & hair one can tolerate in the house and I need to make some room on the terrace which is stacked with our old sofas. Luckily we can have a certain amount of heavy "furniture rubbish" collected by the council, once a year and free of charge. Will have to organise this tomorrow although it could be a week or two before it is collected.

Angie has to visit MrB to collect the next load of honey to fill the outstanding orders at work and possibly even the venison from MrB's Friday night outing.

Much too early to say it but hope all have a good week and the weather picks up in the south of England.
