Strolling through the village this afternoon, I noticed this late-season cricket match- or at least a short pause between innings. I think one of the umpires was going back to find out where half the opposition were!

I didn't stay too long, but even during my short stay I was surprised at the amount of noise generated by the amateur players these days - more than football players of my era!

I suspect it is a knock-on effect from the professional game, where to my mind, the so-called "sledging" has got out of hand.
