Bumble on Bamboo
Get a whiff of the fragrant bamboo flowers in large.
My mom has been up for a visit the last few days and we discovered that the bees are mad for the goldenrod (see yesterday's blip) and the flowering bamboo (one of our neighbors has an out of control patch of bamboo... odd for northern Michigan). The other night we were walking (and searching for a blip...as always) we caught sight of these delicate flowers draped all over the bamboo and lit up so brilliantly by the evening sun. Upon closer inspection, we saw that there were multiple bees covering every flower all over the bamboo (the clump of bamboo covers the space a large car or small bedroom might take up). What a HUMMMM that created and of course, what a blip opportunity. ;) We tried for images 2 nights in a row with mild success, but never got what we were after. So, we headed out this morning to try it in a different light. My personal goal was to get an image that was backlit, as these flowers glow and shimmer and remind me of something you'd see at a wedding... and certainly, I wanted a bee in there as well.
The above was the best of the bunch today, and this came in second (when I polled my blip assistants). However, neither is quite what I had in mind when I set out. So bear with me... you may get to see another attempt if I get it right before this crazy bee thing goes away. :)
My mom went home today. We had a great time together and I hated to see her go. My turn to make the trip next time... Thanks for coming up Mom. :)
PS Check out Mom's blip, M9, she captured a multiple bee image.
