The Great Tapestry
Today I went to see the longest tapestry in the world. And it’s not every day you can say that… The Great Tapestry of Scotland is now open for viewing at the Parliament. It’s 143 metres long, so there are more than 140 different panels. It’s an amazing accomplishment. But it was very very busy. Although I purposely included the viewers in the shot, as I liked the colours and their heads together, discussing the finer points of the stitches, possibly.
I had asked Uncle A if he’d like to see it but he declined, saying, ‘It’s all propaganda’. Looked like the main events in the history of Scotland to me. Although maybe Wee Eck has a secret agenda of adding one last panel next year... Freedom!
Had a busy morning listing unwanted items on eBay and Gumtree. Still have a slight unease about selling things before everything’s signed and sealed. We might find ourselves sitting on the floor (Ha! If only I could...) in an empty dining room with the table, chairs and dresser sold. I feel it’s tempting fate a wee bit…
But I bumped into our prospective buyer this morning and she’s so excited about moving in, and things are going to plan, so maybe it’s all right to get rid of big items…
Today on the bus there was a young child, standing on the seat, not being held, looking out the window and playing ‘eye spy’ with her mum, who was more interested in her phone.
‘I spy with my little eye, something beginning with E.’
Mum may have been giving a few half hearted guesses - couldn’t hear - but they were all wrong.
Eventually the toddler told mum the answer - ‘Everything!’
That child could be a politician when she grows up.
