Cumbria Here I Come

Pink lady

Bit of an unusual blip from me I know, but I just had to blip this pink lady who resides in the Penny Jones Animal Hospice where she will happily spend the rest of her days with one or two others! Elizabeth who runs this animal hospice is a remarkable lady who has rescued an assortment of animals, lots of dogs (mainly collies), goats, donkeys, pigs, rabbits, chickens, cats, ferrets. A lot of the dogs are getting on in years and will spend the rest of their days at the hospice but there are a few dogs there who she would like to find homes for, so if you know anybody who would like to give a dog a home......

So why was I there today? Well I’ve been running a little competition for my customers and various other people over the past 3 months who paid £1 to enter with all the proceeds going to this little known hospice. I met Elizabeth a couple of years go in the local woods and we chatted and she told me all about the hospice. She has no staff, just volunteers and relies on donations and I wanted to do my bit and raise awareness at the same time. The local paper sent a photographer along to take pictures of me handing the money over and of Elizabeth with some of the animals and it should go in the paper later this week. Here’s a link to her facebook page, and if you are into Facebook please have a look and Like her.

On another note I’ve been under a lot of pressure the last few days with various problems to deal with and things to organise etc so have decided to take a week out of blip, well something had to give! It hasn’t stopped me taking photos though so will be back-blipping and catching up with journals next week but I couldn’t resist this one today and I managed to just about catch a sunset tonight by the skin of my teeth, if interested it’s here
