Dancing on Water

An early breakfast and start from St Ives to get booked in and onboard for the 9:15 Scillonian ferry. On arrival at St Mary's we'd actually expected to be going straight onto the pelagic, but eventually sussed it wasn't until 17:00 which gave us plenty time for a very leisurely stroll and explore.

Aboard the pelagic we were pleasantly surprised about how uncrowded it was - roughly twelve passengers and four crew and what gorgeous conditions, calm with great evening light, couldn't be much better, but then we were surrounded by a pod of dolphins, they were jumping right beside us, better & better still, when we ticked two lifers - Cory's Shearwater and Great Shearwater, not to mention the Storm Petrels that were dancing on the calm water. Additionally we saw two Ocean Sunfish and three Blue Sharks were caught and tagged. Two more days of this to look forward to!

RCB's blipped one of our lifers, a Great Shearwater.
