Ruskin's View
Following the busy time in town catching up on Mintfest, we thought we'd try and dodge the crowds today and headed over to the picturesque town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
It really is a lovely place. We parked up at Devil's Bridge and marvelled at the number of bikers congregated there. The gathered burger vans seemed to be doing a roaring trade.
We then took a walk over the bridge, along the river, up a flight of 86 steps (me with my son in a purpose built backpack) and came upon Ruskin's View. Now, apparently he judged this view "the finest in England and therefore the world". We all agreed it was indeed a fine view, but that we had all seen better at one point or another.
We wandered along the path a bit further and then had a picnic lunch before wandering back into the town and finding a truly superb bakers.
Cakes bought, we headed home for a cup of tea and to scoff the lot!
